Bamboo Facts

Bamboo fabric is very soft and silky to touch, it is naturally anti-bacterial and will not hold odour. These anti bacterial qualities work great for active wear. It draws moisture away from the skin and allows the body to breathe. Bamboo is great all year round as it breathes in warm weather and keeps you warm in the cool.

The properties of bamboo are amazing. Like hemp, bamboo is another highly sustainable crop as it grows very fast and needs minimal care. It regenerates naturally through an extensive root system so that after harvest they will reshoot - without any depletion or deterioration of the surrounding soil. No irrigation system, no pesticides, no herbicides and no replanting. It is said that bamboo can actually contribute to an increase in the water table as well as an increase in new soil. They also provide carbon sequestration–along the lines of 62 tons per acre as compared to 16 tons per acre for trees, while also providing 35% more oxygen than trees. All bamboo products are completely biodegradable and recyclable.

Our bamboo fabrics are made with both bamboo fibers and bamboo pulp. They are soft and silky to the touch, drape well, and possess properties of excellent moisture absorption and permeability. Our bamboo yarn is meet the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 which is safe even for baby products. While bamboo fabrics have become increasingly popular, bamboo pulp-made fabric (also known as bamboo viscose) has been facing controversy with questions raised about its production methods, which are similar to wood pulp rayon’s. Concerns have been raised about the safety of the chemicals used in bamboo viscose making and the pollution that may result from their use. Our suppliers use a closed vat and recycling water system. We’ve been working very closely with our suppliers to produce fabrics in an ecologically responsible manner with minimal environmental impact.
